CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING TIP
The Prätschalp cross-country ski run
A real highlight: the Prätschalp cross-country ski track, surrounded by the Arosa mountain landscape, with a magnificent view of the pristine Schanfigg valley. After a leisurely start on the Maran cross-country ski track, crossing a wide, treeless plain, you will find a short, steep descent towards Schafwald. The track then runs flat again through the Seebachtobel, followed by a longer ascent towards the Prätschalp. The track passes near the Langwies viewpoint, where you can admire Langwies with its famous viaduct, the Mattjisch Horn and the Sapün and Fondei side valleys. Shortly before the Prätschalp, you reach the highest point of the track, at almost 1,970 metres. Here, cross-country skiers can enjoy a view over the Schanfigg valley with its traditional Walser houses. It’s worth taking a break there before heading down to the Lower Prätschsee. The Nischensee is fed by the Prätschalp stream and drains underground, with the outflow later running into the Plessur. From the lake it is less than two kilometres back to Hof Maran.
