The Prätschalp cross-country ski trail

A true highlight: the Prätschalp cross-country ski trail, surrounded by the mountains of Arosa and with a wonderful view of the original Schanfigg valley. After a leisurely start on the Maran cross-country ski trail over an extensive, treeless flat section, a short, steep descent towards Schafwald awaits. The trail then continues flat through the Seebachtobel. This is followed by a longer ascent towards Prätschalp. The trail first leads past the Langwieser viewpoint. Here you can admire Langwies with its famous viaduct, the Mattjisch Horn and the side valleys of Sapün and Fondei. Shortly before Prätschalp, the highest point of the trail is reached at almost 1,970 metres. Here, cross-country skiers can enjoy a view over the Schanfigg valley with its rustic Walser houses. A break is therefore worthwhile before heading down to Unterer Prätschsee. The niche lake is fed by the Prätschalpbach and drains underground, with the outflow later flowing into the Plessur. From the lake it is less than two kilometres back to Hof Maran.
