While strolling or winter hiking, Arosa can be discovered on foot on the excellently prepared paths. Arosa has more than 60 km of prepared walking and winter hiking trails that lead right through the lively snow sports area to all the mountain huts or through snow-covered forests. This also gives pedestrians the opportunity to linger in all the cozy, serviced huts.
The hiking route Arosa – Prätschli – Maran – Arosa is perfect for getting some fresh mountain air and enjoying the magnificent views. Behind the Arosa train station, the path leads up to the Waldhotel, through the forest it goes higher and higher until you reach the road again and have already reached the highest point on the Prätschli. Past the Hotel Prätschli, the path leads downhill again and now offers a view over the cross-country ski trails of Maran and the Walser village of Medergen on the opposite side of the valley. If you still have some energy here, you can extend the tour from Prätschli and climb even further towards Arlenwald, and then walk via the Maraner Hüschi to Maran. In Maran, it is worth stopping off on the sun terrace of the Hof Maran or the isblaatere. The way back to the village leads via the Eichhörnliweg. Here, the fluffy animals, which venture very close and eat directly from your hand, delight guests of all ages.
Our tip: Ask at our reception for the popular squirrel's favorite nut mix.

Leave the hectic everyday life behind and immerse yourself in the untouched winter landscape above Arosa - the Prätschalp snowshoe trail (No. 597) is perfect for this. After starting from the hotel, the tour first leads along the cross-country ski trails through the forest and beyond the forest boundary. Several times along the way, a unique view opens up of the long Schanfigg valley and the Arosa mountain landscape. At the rustic Prätschalp, you have reached the turning point and half of the tour. In summer, around 100 cows from Chur farmers are pastured here. Then it goes uphill again towards Ober Prätschsee. The Guisanplatz is not far from the lake. General Henri Guisan (1874-1960) attended a 1st of August celebration at this location during the Second World War. A memorial plaque on site commemorates the historical event. The path leads gently downhill back to the hotel.
